I wanted to see Western swing on the map. Where was it played, where did musicians travel, and what places helped the music take hold? I started plotting dance halls, ballrooms, clubs, radio stages, and other stops along the way. The result is a growing picture of the circuit Western swing built across the Southwest and beyond.

I verify each location against published or archival sources and record how confident I am in the location. Historical addresses can be difficult to establish, particularly for demolished rural halls, former fairgrounds, and buildings lost to redevelopment. I review active venues and recurring events throughout the year and check building status annually. Each pin includes the sources used to establish its connection to Western swing. The map will continue to grow as the research develops.
Follow the circuit
Fort Worth and Tulsa form two early centers. The circuit spreads across Texas and Oklahoma, moves west with musicians and migration, develops a major second life in California, and reaches ballrooms and auditoriums far beyond the Southwest. The map also follows the music forward. Surviving dance halls, festivals, music societies, and recurring events show where Western swing remains part of a living music culture.
